All the fairy had to do was admit the price was to not attack the demon lord and the hero would have been healed days ago instead of being in his death bed as an alchemist attempts to make the cure for the first time in her life. There was no advantage to hiding the information. From the moment the fairy was prepared to resort to force, they had nothing left to lose by revealing their cards.
In fact, the fairy was even dumber for guarding the water instead of running its dagger through the hero’s neck the moment the MC left.
There wouldnt be a story anymore if some events werent twisted like make characters at certain moment less witt and cunning. I think you have too high expectations from a fantasy story made for entertainment, perfectionism is also no good for anybody health, yours included bro so i recommend you to lease your expectations from others. Beside in such stories most people want happy ending for protagonists.
