Alright so with this chapter I see what is going on somewhat. The queen was a good person and raised the prince well. The princess is bratty partially because she probably didn’t spend much time with the queen as the queen left. The king was mad partially because of that grudge, but also because this grudge made the queen leave. Why do I keep saying the queen left instead of died? Because Hiroki already brought it up in this chapter. The pictures look familiar. We were slyly introduced to a new character that looks like this portrait and appears to be human. I don’t know the full circumstances, but I think king had the grudge because of grandfather demon lord. queen saw that the demons were different and wanted to plead with her husband to change his ways, but when he refused she left most likely having already meeting Cruz who expanded her views on the demons. We know Cruz had connections to the capital as he dropped off Tina to Floyd there, so him running into the queen at some point makes sense. Anyway because she left due to the demon argument with the king, it reinforced the king’s biased hatred towards them even if he didn’t experience the war itself. He might actually have some regrets and doubts and is blinding himself into saying it’s to protect his family. Queen coming back is realistically how they convince the king to give the key to the heroes as well as stop trying to start wars. Also maybe remove the contract if this flower negotiation fails. The only other possible way to have the heroes win is if the kinder prince takes over, but I think the queen is still involved.
