Umm no. It isn’t well explained in the manga since it’s pretty lighthearted, so I’ll go with the light novel’s explanation. At a certain point in the story (when he creates his Truth & Lies/Life & Death/Gambit skill) he gains a skill called Magic Entanglement. This allows Haruka to, in essence, supercharge his skills. Sounds great, but it’s like overworking your muscles: you can do permanent damage to yourself. Haruka also gains a skill called Revival, which keeps him alive long enough for his body to regenerate. But every use of Magic Entanglement with his strongest skills pushes his body past its limits, causing it to wear down. As time goes on he has to rely on this more and more, due to his experience rate being significantly lower than average. Since he doesn’t level up very fast, his stats don’t increase very fast, so with more and more powerful enemies appearing he has to use Magic Entanglement even more. It’s always been a question of WHEN rather than IF his body was going to break down, which is part of why his thought process is like a squirrel on meth and acid simultaneously.
